Evan Golden Hopper is an Americana artist who refuses to choose between his bluegrass roots and his punk rock soul, instead weaving these seemingly opposed influences into a singular artistic vision. Raised on traditional bluegrass by his musician grandparents, he spent his teenage years immersed in DIY punk and metal before developing his current project Quell, which channels the storytelling depth of roots music through the raw energy and rebellion of punk rock. Drawing inspiration from everyone from Bill Monroe and Townes Van Zandt to Nirvana and Norwegian black metal, Hopper creates music that honors tradition while breaking its rules.
